Movies & TV

If we check out a movie or TV show, we’ll let you know what we thought. Most movies aren’t exactly current; I watch a lot of old movies that were filmed in black & white. So invite me to some movie premiers.

Blast Of Silence / Five Minutes To Live – Two crime stories from 1961 that are pretty interesting except when they’re not.

Shield For Murder – 1954 crime drama where a detective can’t catch a break just because he murdered and robbed a criminal bagman.

Baby Driver – Quick review of 2017 movie that has car chases and music. No, not a remake of Blues Brothers. Also, Lego Batman & Doctor Strange reviews.

High School Big Shot – Low grade tribute to Kubrick’s The Killing, but with really dumb teenagers trying double cross each other during a heist, as witnessed on Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Ghostbusters – 2016 remake of a movie I memorized in 1985.

The Prowler – 1951 story about a police officer who falls for a married woman and sets up an accidental shooting of her husband. No one seems concerned when he marries the widow.

The Woman In The Window/Scarlet Street – two noir films released in consecutive years featuring the same cast and by the same director with themes about painting.

The Wraith – 1986 thing that I guess is a movie about a guy who comes back from the dead and gets revenge with a car that, I guess, God gave him. Seriously.

Rogue One – 2016 movie that takes place a few minutes before Star Wars A New Hope (Jan. 11th, 2017)

The Hoodlum – 1951 morality tale: Don’t be Lawrence Tierney (Dec. 8th, 2016)

Murder By Contract – 1958 movie where Camus’ main character in The Stranger becomes an assassin or something (Dec. 6th, 2016)

The Nice Guys/Hail, Caesar! – pair of movies released in early 2016 I finally got to see (Dec. 1st, 2016)

13 Ghosts – 1960 gimmicky movie that requires Transformers G1 Tech Spec Decoder to view properly (Oct. 17th, 2016)

The Chase – 1946 romance drama fever dream starring Mark from Dial M For Murder (Aug. 25th, 2016)

The Asphalt Jungle – 1950 heist noir starring RwC fav Sterling Hayden. (Aug. 4, 2016)

The Narrow Margin – 1951 “noir” film. Not anything like Throw Momma From The Train, sadly. (Jun. 9, 2016)

Hits – 2015 comedy written & directed by David Cross. (May 16, 2016)

Captain America: Civil War – 2016 tentpole superhero film thankfully nothing like the Marvel tentpole comic series. (May 6, 2016)

He Never Died – 2015 horror comedy starring Henry Rollins. (Apr. 19, 2016)

Triple feature: DETOUR, CAUSE FOR ALARM!, and Two Dollar Bettor – 3 crime movies (Apr. 6, 2016)

Too Late For Tears – 1949 crime drama/noir (Mar. 21, 2016)

Angry Video Game Nerd The Movie – 2014 indie comedy (Mar. 2nd, 2016)

Black Angel – 1946 crime thriller/noir (Feb. 24th 2016)

Plunder Road – 1947 heist film (Jan. 31st 2016)

Star Wars Episode 7 The Force Awakens – some movie about something. (Jan. 20th 2015)

Ant-Man – 2015 movie that’s part of the MCU or something. (Dec. 27th 2015)

The Man From U.N.C.L.E. – 2015 movie tribute to 60’s spy show (Dec. 10th 2015)

Whispering City – suspense/crime movie, 1946 (Nov. 30th 2015)

Furious 7 – ridiculous action movie, 2015 (Nov. 24th 2015)

The Man Who Cheated Himself – noir movie, 1950 (Nov. 9th 2015)

Blonde Ice – noirish movie, 1948 (Nov. 2nd 2015)
