Charlie Barber, writer & editor John Barber’s dog, was the basis of Buster in the Transformers Robots In Disguise (issue 28-55 and a couple one shots) and later Optimus Prime IDW series. Buster was Thundercracker’s dog. If you were reading it, it was a nice bit of comic relief, and also adorable. I can’t speak for everyone reading it but just a series where Thundercracker tried to sell screenplays while he imagined Buster was helping him? (maybe Buster was?) Okay, I’ll buy that series from now until the end of time. Probably spoke to me a little more than I should admit. I have the page of the first appearance of Buster from artist Andrew Griffith, and several other pages of Buster & Thundercracker, because of course I do. Anyway, Charlie passed away earlier this summer, sadness. Any news of a dog passing is sadness. Thank you John Barber & Andrew for including a pet for one of my favorite (and first) Transformers, who lived a very specific dream some of us may have had.
