Happy Friday. The season is almost over, and I still have more baseballbots to share. What’s my take of this season? Likely as I type this (a few days before it’s being posted), my Giants are not going to the postseason. That’s disappointing considering how strong they were in June & July. I am sad but at least there were a couple good months out of them. The White Sox melted down and became useless. The Cubs just played moderately well and let the other teams in the NL Central beat each other up so they could (hopefully) get a wild card spot.
The biggest disappointment in all of baseball must be the California Angels. Likely at the trade deadline NO ONE wanted to hand over their team’s future to the Angels for Ohtani for just two months of play and the playoffs, especially if they were already competing well with what they had. The Angels figured that the AL East, most of whom were all contending for something, would beat each other up in the last couple months and they could coast past them into a Wild Card spot, so the Angels made some trades and poached some good players from flailing teams. AND THEN THEY KEPT LOSING. It also seems if Ohtani had one of those memory sticks from Men In Black, he could erase himself from Angels’ team & fans collective memory.
Anyway, it’s almost over! I’d like to see the Brewers or the Mariners go the distance in the playoffs. High point: I saw two games in San Francisco this year, that was pretty great.
