It’s not really a phrase, but I saw the word fishnets and I instantly thought of the punchline, that there’s a lady out there who appreciated for her fishing via nets. And then I worked backwards. The punchline is visual, she has a bunch of fish in a net somehow (I made her a robot instead of a boat). Working backwards, how do I bring it up? What’s the phrase? “she looks great in those fishnets…she’s rockin’ those fishnets…check out those fishnets…” so I went with “she knows how to WORK THOSE FISHNETS” and there you go.
And FINALLY, as I was inking, I thought “ooh let’s make the other robot in the 1st panel something distinct instead of a generic rectangular blob robot.” What if our hero is having some kind of casual discussion about their dating life with a robot specter of death? They’re just pals, no biggie.
Happy Monday! Buy some of my comics.
