Happy Friday. By the time you read this, maybe some of the MLB wild card spots are decided, and the NLDS is about to start. I’m not betting, but I’d like to see the Brewers and the Padres advance, and one of them go to the World Series (and win). I usually root for the underdog, the team that hasn’t been the to the World Series (or won).

Um, “my” teams? As far as the San Francisco Giants go, they couldn’t eke out 1 more win, or two more wins, for an even steven or 1 game over winning season, that’s a bummer. There were a few weeks this season before the all-star break where the team had their relievers take on the games, an inning or two each. That’s BAD, guys. Doval tanked, that sucks to type that but he was pretty bad for much of the season. Lamonte Wade Jr. getting injured after an incredible start didn’t help either. He had an insane on base % that admittingly couldn’t last the whole season, but it would take a lot to come down from that .470. And unfortunately it did. And Jung Hoo Lee, the hype, crashed around the same time. There’s some bright spots: Alex Webb, fantastic. Birdsong, pretty good debut. Tyler Fitzgerald came out of nowhere and was a powerhouse. And Blake Snell showing up halfway into the season and kicking ass helped energize the team. It wasn’t enough to get closer to the wild card spot, but they got competitive for a bit.

The Cubs…same thing, different city. I’m actually shocked that they got some momentum to finish with a winning record. A lot of fans and press thought they’d be the team to beat but I didn’t think think they’d finish above 4th or be in the running for anything. Shota Imanaga turned out to be a big pickup, and I hope he continues to have similar seasons. I did not know Pete Crow Armstrong was so fast. That’s one fast kid! The rest of the pitching was pretty mediocre. I don’t know what they will look like next year.

And then there’s the White Sox, and geez. We all knew they’d be bad and up for sale by the trade deadline but I don’t think ANYONE could see them being THIS bad. There’s no fixin’ it. Replace them with the Savannah Bananas.

Okay, I could go on but I won’t and I’ve likely forgotten half the players on each team and would need to look up everyone’s stats again and I’m not, I need to get back to the drawing board. Happy Friday!
