This was originally going to be the 1st part of page 44, hence the wall & stairs in the first panel reaching past the top border. I also didn’t have a punchline – just Mal walking in and asking Dee if he was home. It was going to be 2 panels, the 1st one and then a wider shot of the apartment, but then I thought Mal should say something since Dee left earlier that day angry. Also, the last panel, Mal originally said “pretty good day! Unless you’re still mad at me, then today sucked.” That might have landed harder than “then today was awful” but I don’t think Mal ‘swears’ or gets crass.
