I love in some old timey paper strips by artists phoning it in where they have the characters laughing at the pun or punchline. Like, they’re in the know from the getgo, even though there’s a setup. Or the comic strip artist knew that’d be the only way to emphasize that it was a joke, or that the thought was indeed funny, even (especially) if it were a social commentary. C’mon people, laugh at this disagreeable thing! The Onion’s Kelley strips parody this perfectly. Me? The last panel’s line isn’t a punchline. That everyone knows the Prez is incapable of regular feelings without some form of abusive manipulation to get through the feeling unscathed by decent people around him is the joke. I guess…I kinda belted this out. Enjoy!
