Sooooo one of the supplies I stopped using were these tone markers. Zipatone patterns on the computer ended up being decent substitutes…well, decent? Better looking, and easier to edit. Because if there’s a bad line cutting through the gray shades, I have to find something that will cover that line. Various other things, like the scribble marker look. That said, for some reason I decided to use them this week. It’s serviceable. Likely I won’t use them again. Which is a bummer because I bought a bunch some years ago when they started marketing them as “manga” markers and removed two of the shades (not colors) from the set. Like I said, it’s just more difficult to edit around them, to make them survive the scan and removing the ‘noise’ around them. I also used black ink brush pens in the first panel (and in the 1st & 3rd strip from this sequence this week). But for panel two in this strip, I inverted the lettering from black to white and then filled in the rest of the space with a paint bucket tool in the program. I usually ‘color’ in these chunks of space with markers when there’s an intended black background (night, silhouette, etc).
